By  |

This has been a busy year for Sid. Let’s take a look back at some of the highlights in the Sid Year That Was.

INESCAPABLE: Sid reunited with writer/director Ruba Nadda to film this movie in South Africa at the beginning of the year, followed by a world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival and theatrical release in Canada in the Fall. The movie has been picked up for distribution in U.S. in 2013.

TRUE LOVE: This anthology of romantic stories aired in the UK in the summer. Sid co-starred in one episode as the man an unhappy housewife falls for.

MAY IN THE SUMMER: Sid traveled to Jordan in the summer to film this romantic comedy from Cherien Dabis, which has been selected to open the prestigious Sundance Film Festival in January 2013.

DA VINCI’S DEMONS: This new original series from Starz! follows the early (fictionalized) life of Leonardo Da Vinci, with Sid’s character serving as his mentor. Watch for it to premiere in the U.S. in Spring 2013.

FALCON: Sky Atlantic aired a miniseries based on the Falcon adventure novels by Joseph Wilson in the Fall; the first installment, The Blind Man of Seville, featured Sid in a crucial role.

DOCTOR WHO: 1001 NIGHTS: Returning to the Big Finish family, Sid recorded another audiobook in the Doctor Who universe, 1001 Nights, available December 31.

This Red Rock: Sid formed a production company with partners Alistair Petrie and Carola Ash. Their first project is an adaptation of the novel [easyazon-link asin=”B005SMWF2Q”]City of Veils[/easyazon-link], currently in development.

Coming up next year are the releases of May in the Summer and Inescapable (U.S.), the premiere of Da Vinci’s Demons, and Sid is confirmed for the DS9 20th Anniversary celebration at the Creation Entertainment Las Vegas convention. And that’s just what has already been announced!

Mel started a fan site for Siddig in 1996, as a way to learn HTML and to promote his charitable endeavors. In 1998, he proposed that it become his official fan site; she quickly agreed and a long-distance friendship was born. You can reach Mel at mel[at]sidcity[dot]net.
