Projects – The official fansite for Alexander Siddig Fri, 02 Jun 2017 03:29:59 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Ra’s al Ghul is “ambiguous” says Siddig Sat, 01 Apr 2017 07:00:48 +0000 Alexander Siddig gave his first interview about playing Ra’s al Ghul on FOX’s Gotham, telling Digital Spy that the weekly television format means he’s chosen to play the supervillain “in a more ambiguous way” than we might have expected

“I really tried to be as ambiguous as possible. I’ve only done two episodes and as an actor in episodic television, I don’t know what the next script is, so I’m confronted with finding a way to play something really dark in a more ambiguous way.”

He goes on to share a glimpse of the character as described in the script: “You’re really not sure if he’s good or bad – no-one knows whether he’s a demon or a saint, or a ghost, that’s a line from the script.”

Read more from Siddig about how much fun he’s having with the character and how he’s chosen to pronounce “Ra’s” – a topic of some debate, apparently – over at Digital Spy.

Gotham returns to FOX on Monday, April 24 at 8/7c. The series also airs on Channel 5 in the UK.

Alexander Siddig Voices “Alien: River of Pain” for Audible Fri, 31 Mar 2017 17:54:30 +0000 Audible announced this week that Alexander Siddig is starring in their new audio play Alien: River of Pain.

Based on the 2014 novel, Alien: River of Pain is set between the first and second films in the franchise and chronicles the birth and backstory of Aliens‘ Newt. The play explores the destruction of Hadley’s Hope, a research and mining colony in 2157.

Siddig plays “ruthless” Doctor Reese, as Siddig told Den of Geek: “I play a character called Dr. Reese, who’s one of a group of scientists sent to the far reaches of space to hopefully capture an alien alive – despite whatever human cost that incurs. So I’m not a particularly nice piece of work.”

Joining Siddig are Anna Friel, Philip Glenister, Michelle Ryan, Colin Salmon and Mark Warren all feature in River of Pain, from award-winning radio producer Dirk Maggs.

Alien: River of Pain will be released April 26, 2017. It’s available for pre-order now at Audible and Audible UK.

GAME OF THRONES: First Look at Alexander Siddig in Season 6 Thu, 21 Apr 2016 23:00:39 +0000 With just three days until the premiere of Game of Thrones season 6, HBO released a slew of new promotional stills including our first look at Alexander Siddig as Prince Doran Martell.

When last we saw Doran, he was (allegedly) disapproving of Ellaria’s plans for revenge against the Lannisters…right before Myrcella Lannister dropped dead on the ship taking her back to King’s Landing. In this image – possibly from the season premiere although it might be from the season’s second episode – Ellaria appears to be explaining herself to Doran. Could it be that Ellaria’s sinister plot was sanctioned by Doran all along?

Alexander Siddig Signs on to FOX Pilot ‘Recon’ Tue, 23 Feb 2016 00:29:46 +0000 Good news, Sidsters! Deadline reports that Sid has signed on to co-star in the FOX pilot Recon opposite Tracy Spiridakos.

Recon centers on Alexa (Spiridakos), a young, driven FBI analyst tasked with embedding herself in a suspected terrorist family. Siddig plays her target Omar, a father, husband and devout Muslim who has no idea the Feds have been tracking his every move.

The drama pilot is executive produced by The Vampire Diaries’ co-developers/executive producers Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec and written by Caroline Dries, another TVD executive producer.

The pilot will shoot over the next few weeks with FOX making a decision about whether to pick it up to series in May. We’ll next see Sid in Game of Thrones season 6, premiering April 24 on HBO. He will also recur in series 3 of Peaky Blinders, premiering October 6 on BBC Two. Should Recon be picked up to series, there’s a chance Sid be in two shows airing at the same time on different continents!

Alexander Siddig Joins PEAKY BLINDERS Mon, 07 Dec 2015 16:24:07 +0000 As mentioned in the birthday post, Sid has been on location filming a new project for the past few weeks, and we’re ready to reveal what it is: series 3 of the BBC2 drama Peaky Blinders.

Our UK Sidsters will likely be familiar with the show, but for the rest of us, here’s a quick synopsis:

Birmingham 1919: Thomas Shelby and his family run the most feared and powerful local gang, the Peaky Blinders. Named for their practice of sewing razor blades into the peaks of their caps, they make money from illegal betting, protection and the black market. But Tommy’s ambitions go beyond running the streets, and when a crate of guns falls into his hands, he recognises an opportunity to move up in the world. Crime pays, but business pays better.

That’s right, Sid’s going vintage gangster!

Peaky Blinders stars Cillian Murphy as Thomas Shelby, leader of the gang, alongside Helen McCrory, Tom Hardy, Noah Taylor, Joe Cole, and Charlotte Riley. Sid’s role is under wraps for now, but we can tell you that he’ll appear in five out of six episodes.

Filming on series 3 began October 5 in Cheshire, just south of Manchester, England.  The premiere date has not yet been announced, but series 1 & 2 are available to purchase (UK | US) and series 1 is available on Netflix.

Follow the show on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for behind-the-scenes peeks!
