cold.gif It's still too cold cold.gif

Last monday while I was waiting for the bus to work, I had a rare oppertunity, to have a look around the Forbidden Planet ( a sci-fi & cult tv store).

I brought myself the Star Trek Deep Space Nine book Millenium (all three books in one volume). I also brought a figure of Julian Bashir as he appeared in Trial's & Tribblelations (my 33 year old housemate had a good laugh at me, then spent 2 hours playing with Julian lol.gif ).

Well that little shopping trip set me back £21.00 the book will keep me entertained for a few weeks (possibly until after Christmas). As for Julian, he will stand (he doesn't bend to sit) on my bedroom shelf with Jeffrey (a porcalin figure dressed in 1700's grab) and collect dust.

Now what I would like to know is,
Does anyone know where I can get my non-grubby hands on a Garak figure?
I have heard tell of this figure but have never seen one.

Any information would be most appreciated.

You could try eBay.

I have one, but it's not for sale. Actually, the toughest one for me to get was Dukat. I wanted to have an action figure to stand beside each photo of me with one of the DS9 actors. Since I was sitting between Andy and Marc for a photo at the Cardassian Lunch in 1996, that meant I needed two for that one. A friend of mine eventually did track down a Dukat, but it's bigger and more detailed than all the others. It must have been from some kind of premium set.

Anyway, I have a story about the "Trials and Tribulations" Bashir action figure. It formed part of the centerpiece at Sid's table at the "Weekend on the Promenade" event in Burbank in 1999. Sid took the figure, handed it to Django and said, "This is a very bad man." I figured Sid was just asking for trouble. Sure enough, mere minutes later Django was showing the figure to Nana at our table. She says, "That's Daddy." Django says, "No it's not." Nana agrees it doesn't look much like Daddy.

santakiss.gif Dukat huh? (that is really cool)
It does not surprise me that he was hard to find, although I have heard certainwhispers about there being a Damar figure out there somewhere. 5 years ago if you went in to a store (over here) and asked for an Elim Garak you'd get one, now days they just look at you as if you have gone completely mad.

I would never ask to buy your Garak figure for some reason Star Trek figures are things people get quite attached to. Iknow I wouldn't part with my Bashir and I have only had him a week.

Your display sounds really cool, and that story about Nana, Sid and Django was very sweet.

I could never imagine having one of these figures standing somewhere in my room on a bookshelve. They don't look like the "real" characters at all. (Maybe that's not the purpose of them? lol.gif ) Actually I think they are kind of scary... (Whereas the huge life-size-paper-things are kind of funny.)

I think I will stick to posters. wink.gif

What I really would like to have are some starship models. (Or the space station.)

And I was once in a "Forbidden Planet" - store. I think it was in London. It was like paradise. biggrin.gif (I bought a lot of videos, I think, and some books.)

Sweet story Carol and your display does sound neat.

Bec, I hope you can find Garak.

I have the models of DS9 and Enterprise D. (I think I have another as well, but I don't quite remember what it is.) I bought them when I was thirteen and they are in my attic now. The station is still not yet assembled. I had to hide them after I bought them because my aunt hates Star Trek of all kinds and I use to live with her. Then they were under my bed and I would take them out to look at them every once in a while. My aunt from Chicago bought me a plate with a Bird of Prey on it for my fifteenth Birthday. She also got me a toy shuttle craft with the lights and sounds. Both are also put away, mostly because after I moved, my new home doesn't have as much room. I had bought a Bashir figure in 1999, I think I paid $2 for him and $5 for some Original Series playing cards, (in a tin. tongue.gif ) At that time I worked at Walmart and they had almost all the figures, and everything Star Trek on clearance, but I only wanted Bashir and Jadzia Dax (they are my favorite characters.) They didn't have Dax however. sad.gif
As for my space Station, it's cream in color and that's another reason why I never really assembled it. I was waiting to buy the appropriate paint color to paint it. I wanted to paint the pieces before I put them together so that I can detail it afterwards and try to make it more realistic.

One day I'm going to have a collection room. Inside this room there will be one wall painted like the nights sky, with nebulas and specks for stars, and a narrow table with black velvet cloth and my models on display on top. I also hope that I might be able to find more models to add to it. (I've been planning this since the day I bought my very first model, the Starship Enterprise with removable captain shuttle. The saucer section even comes apart from the battle ship section, just like in the show. I even thought that I might hang the ships off the ceiling with clear fishing wire, so they float, but I'm not sure if I could actually manage that.)
Well, until I have my own home, they're going to stay in the attic. Hopefully, I won't have too long to wait.

You know, this is the first time I've ever heard of that store.
Do they perhaps sell a 3D chess set and I'm also looking for that board game that was featured in TNG? I played it once but forgot the name. It's kind of like a chess meets stratego meets chinese checkers type of game with these different sized round circle things that you use to get to the other side of the board, and raise plateforms. For the life of me I can't remember the name and I haven't seen it in stores since the mid-90's. Does anyone know what it's called?

My Garak figure arrived this week, he cost me £12.00.

He is dressed in that mustard yellow suit (that was worn about half way through The Wire while Garak was in Quark's) and stands 12 inches tall. I am giving some serious thought in to looking through all of my old Barbie clothes (maybe that should be Ken's clothes) to see what fits I am sure I had a Tux (ok I admit it I am a little sad but Garak did look good in a Tux laughing1.gif )

I am now (once I have paid my ebay expert) going to start looking for simular figures of Bashir (in uniform) and Garak in his Guls uniform.

Finally does anyone know if they ever made a Damar and Weyoun figure.
