What does everyone think about his protest of the Olympics because of what is happening in Darfur? I never thought that he was an activist. air_kiss.gif

One does not necessarily have to be an activist to refuse employment. Spielberg would have been their artistic director -- tasked with making China look good as the world watched the Olympics. If China is putting their finanial interests ahead of putting pressure on Sudan to end their humanitarian disgrace in Darfur, well, a person with a conscience might think, "I don't want to work for them!"

This is very different from boycotting the Olympics because of politics -- which both the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. have done. I think that's regrettable because it hurts the athletes who would have had a chance to complete. I don't like politics getting messed up with Olympic competition, but a man standing up for his principles is a fine thing.
