So anyway I've been waiting around and looking at review magazines and cinema line-ups and everything like that. And just thinking...

I haven't seen any evidence so far that "Doomsday" is even coming to New Zealand at all!! Which is a shame because those exploding bunny rabbits sounded really intriguing!!!

So if anyone knows of some evidence at all that it's coming to ANYWHERE in the entire Southern Hemisphere of this planet Earth, then seriously...

I'd like to see.

Just realised, this sounds like a bit of a rant, but it's not really. Just something I wouldn't have minded taking a gander at. So... yup. Maybe just wait for the DVD.

DVDs are good.

I wouldn't give up hope just yet. According to IMDB, Doomsday will have it's release in Japan in July and for Germany it will be in August. I'm sure that the release list on IMDB will get longer.

I know how you feel. I may never be able to add "Un Homme Perdu" to my collection because I don't have an ATM or credit card to order online (the only way I would be able to get that movie)

As Doomsday is a big budget mainstream movie, so there might be a possibility that you can buy a download somewhere online.

Did anyone get the Google alert that led to an interview with director Neil Marshall where he mentions that Hatcher (Sid) did a wonderful speach to the press in the style of Tony Blair that did not make the final cut of the movie.?

I really hope tha it will one day appear on the DVD

Still trying to pluck up the courage to go see this movie

It's that interview, right? smile.gif

The Prime Minister John Hatcher (Alexander Siddig) and his advisor Canaris (David O’Hara) seem to be modelled on Tony Blair and Alistair Campbell.

Oh definitely, it was kind of unavoidable. There’s a scene we cut from the film where Hatcher does a speech to the press and Alexander did the most extraordinary Blair impersonation. But I just thought it was a bit too broad comedy to make it into that sequence so it didn’t make it into the movie. It was an interesting play on things though.

Jude, it's so fast, you won't even have enough time to be scared. wink.gif (And after a while you get used to it. lol.gif)

It doesn't look as if I'm going to get to see this movie either! I've just checked and no cinema anywhere near me is going to show it - I'd have to travel right across the country or into Wales! The powers that be obviously think that no-one in deepest, darkest Somerset would be interested in an apocalyptic fantasy. Never mind, it saves me deciding whether I can brave the gore! Lily

I know that feeling!! (Not really "into" blood and guts either in movies. Unless it's worth it.)

I do remember that "Sweeney Todd" was worth it, though. So have lots of other movies been. And this movie will prob'ly be worth it too.

Release dates in Japan are usually delayed by a little because they have to produce the Japanese dub. I guess the same would be true of other non-English speaking countries. (That being insert other language in place of Japanese, anyway.)

I just wish it would come here!! (waah) & haven't even seen a review or anything. Which is weird because they're already talking a bit about the new Star Trek movie and that's not supposed to come round these parts until early 2009.

Local cinemas seem to go for either super blockbuster or arty-farty and not much in between.

Oh well. Shall put "Doomsday" into the category of "would be nice..." I suppose.

Hello everyone. I just thought you would like to read about my mishaps in trying to see Doomsday.

On Monday I went by train to Middlesbrough to see Siddig in Doomsday and actually got as far as the ticket desk before chickening out and seeing a different movie.

I felt quite annoyed with myself so I tried to see it again today. However I missed the train and considering it meant a two hour wait I decided to go to another town by bus. This journey took quite some time and after getting off realised that I was completely lost and had no idea where the cinema was. I eventually found a taxi and he took me to the cinema that looked really menacing and had no posters in their windows. I proceded to walk in and ask for a ticket to Doomsday only to be greeted with "It is not being shown here".

I came home defeated again. So there you go two attempts and still no movie.

I feel like a twit.

Best Wishes

Sounds like my Syriana adventure(although I managed to see it that night) It was on Martin Luther King's B-day-2006 and this was nearing the end of the movie's run in the theatres. It was playing at the Rockville Centre Twin. But the film was having visual problems(blurry picture) that they couldn't fix so they sent us to Roosevelt Field Mall theatre. I just barely got there in time(i was already refundedadmission and food was free because I saved the receipts and popcorn bag) I only missed the very beginning with the guys getting on the bus at dawn

Needless to say, the Rockville Centre Twin theatre closed down only 3 weeks later-No surprise there!

I too was really not sure if this movie wqs my "cup of tea" I plucked up courage, bribed a friend by buying her ticket and I saw it today. WELL I thoroughly ENJOYED ITand my frien did too. As some of the previous posters have said the gory parts are so quick you blink and they are gone! Well I did feel sorry for the cow! never mind poor bunnies what about poor Cow! I thought the cast was great loved Rhona Mitra she is a real super hero! and Bob Hoskins brought a real warmth to the role. The action scences were terrific! loved the car chase in a Blue Bentley. The choice of songs fitted in well like "Two Tribes" by Frankie goes to Hollywood Sid was great too although would have liked to seen more of him, great to hear his lovely English accent. I visited Scotland and Glasgow so the scenerey brought back memories. ( Scotland is my favorite country and I have travelled a bit)

Its a crazy fun filled rollercoaster of a ride! very British movie !

Yes, me too, I was delighted to hear the accent again biggrin.gif

The car chase brought back memories of my holidays in South Africa. I've visted Cape Town and its surroundings, a friend even took me out in his buggy, so that was a bit of a deja vu. It's one of my favourite destinations. The landscape in the background is unmistakably the Cape, the mountains there have a distinct shape.
