Full Version: UK TV Makes me so angry

POTHOS
I am hopping mad.

I have just found out that UK terrestrial TV will not be showing either the final season of Angel or Alias. coupled with 24, West Wing and NYPD Blue all suffering the same fate, I am so annoyed.

I supose it is so that the stations can broadcast more shows on plastic surgery, and hoddies.

Oh to be in a room with the schedulers bat.gif

I would help you. bat.gif boxing.gif

German TV isn't much better.

I'm still waiting for the latest season of ER. (and I mean season 11)
I'm also waiting for Frasier season 10. They say that they don't have the license to show season 10. I don't understand that. They did show season 11! How can you have the license to show season 11 but not season 10?
The most ridiculous thing was to start showing ds9 again - and then break up after 16 episodes because the license was expired. I mean, shouldn't they know when a license expires? (good that I taped all episodes on video)

I supose it is so that the stations can broadcast more shows on plastic surgery, and hoddies.

Don't forget "court shows". *shudder*

What are "hoddies"?
POTHOS
Hi Mel.

The term "Hoodies" is short hand for a troublesome hoddlum or youth. The hood actually refers to the clothing that entails sweatshirt with attached hood the the youth will pull over his head and face to make them unrecognisable. Shopping centres have now banned anyone wearing them from entering their premises.

Hope that helps Mel

Ah. So I take it that the teenagers wearing the hoodies are causing trouble?
POTHOS
Put it this way, our media is obsessed with this subject, now whether all teenagers who wear these clothes are a danger to modern civilisation is another matter. I just wish they would not drop shows towards the end of their runs

It makes me sooo angry bat.gif bash.gif

You know, I was also wondering what "hoodies" are. But you named it together with "plastic surgery shows", so I thought it's maybe something that isn't worth talking about so much.
I guess I was right.

Italian TV is the same, bad thing.
I bought the pay TV, but I always prefer watch tv series in dvd.....
I'm not able to watch an episode a week, even an episode a day, so I always wait the end of a serie, and only then I watch it.
Specially for sci-fi series: italian tv shows them only after midnight....and it's impossible watch them when I work the next day.

What's wrong with hoodies?? I like hoodies...I own a lot of them and always wear them. They're nice and warm.
ulli
I guess it's just about kids who wear it and cause trouble and don't want to be recognised.
So I don't think it's only about the clothing, just what you use it for.

And I agree, they are nice and warm. smile.gif

In my conspiracy theory, they're old women, wearing hoodies to hide their identities. Or indeed, old men, dressed as old women. Verrrryyy python.

@Ulli: FRASIER! I LOVE FRASIER! We spent so long getting through to season seven. I almost died when it stopped. Then, they brought it back. Season 10 at 5:00, season 7 at 7:30. Frasier was my downtime after school. Personally, Niles is my favourite. ^^ So we got screwed around. They refused to show season 8 or 11. Then they replaced it with Cheers. It's just not the same. NO NILES! Eddie! Daphne! Marty... Roz...

We had Voyager on constant season 4 repeat for a couple of months. At midnight. One night a week. Then they showed Equinox pts 1 and 2 over and over. Like we didn't notice!

I thought I was the only one, who hated my country's television programming. Here, it seems to me that reality tv shows are the hottest thing. I cannot stand them, and will not watch them. I find them embarrassing to the particpants. I find it unfair to hard trained actors who have shows that get cancelled, because reality shows are the thing to watch. This from my perspective, that I am noticing this. Plus, also from my perspective, if I wanted to experience 'reality', I can open my door and step outside. I use to live on a military base for nine years, I have found that reality more intense than what I see people watching on tv. paperbag3.gif There's only so much I can take, that I think I'm od'ing on it.
