Hi, all!

Back in the days of the dinosaurs, I was a film photographer, but about five years ago, I went digital. About six months ago, I started to learn Photoshop and other digital-editing techniques as I advanced towards my goal of going professional.

Digital editing of photographs is amazing! From the very subtle -- like improving contrast and color balance -- to the outrageous -- yellow eyes, anyone? -- it's so much fun. Even though I use it mostly for my nature, animal and abstract art photography, it's fun to practice on something more frivolous. So I often dip into my DS9 photos to play with layers, etc.

I was particularly pleased with these, so I thought I would share them here.
They're images of Bashir as a Vulcan and as a Cardassian. Take a look at them on my Flickr:

Nicely done! What version of Photoshop do you have?

Thanks!

I took a course at a local college last fall, where I learned on CS3. I waited until the course was almost over before placing an order through Academic Superstore, where you can get about a 50% discount with proof that you're a student. But by then, they'd rolled out CS4 and didn't offer CS3 at all. So that's what I got.

I recently added Noliseware Pro as my first plug-in.

As a matter of fact, I've learned a lot since I posted last year's Creative Con photos of Sid in the gallery here. I've now corrected the color and removed the noise on those photos on my desktop. Maybe I need to re-post them...

Wow, it's nice that you have the very latest version. I've been using CS2 since my daughter got it when she was in college several years ago (probably illegal, but don't tell anybody).

Yes, please post more, I'd love to see them!

Bashir is Very belivable (and handsome)as a Vulcan, but with his bubbly personality, the background for his character would have been better if he was Vulcan/Human and raised human-Emotions and all!

Yes, I've been feeling guilty about not doing that already. The ones I posted have such an orange cast, and they're so noisy (grainy).

I'll clean them up and re-post, but it probably won't be for a few weeks.

Hey, if you can't steal from your own daughter, who can you steal from?

And did you pay for her college? Then you claim it as re-payment! wink.gif

But don't worry... your secret is safe with us.

And as far as Bashir as a stoic Vulcan... hey, maybe he *is* only half-Vulcan in this pic. See, his ears are not very pointed, just a little bit. He obviously has human blood.
And as for Bashir the Cardassian, maybe this is a disguise. I can envision a fic where he has to go undercover, like when a bunch of them went undercover as Klingons.

Can you change his hair to Vulcan or Cardie hairdo? That would be COOL.

Well, I sort of did, with the Cardassian one. See, he's got that high hairline, then it comes down straight. Not really long enough, though.

I didn't think about doing it with the Vulcan one. Good point! I'll have to work on that! But then, would we still recognize him as Bashir? There's only one way to find out...

Hello Beth

Your Bashir photo-manipulations look like so much fun. I bet you could transform him into all sorts of things. I've always thought he'd make an excellent elf. And a lovely blue Andorian. I wonder how he'd look as a Tellarite...

And thank you for letting us see your galleries. Your photographs are breathtakingly beautiful. Honestly. I caught my breath when I saw them. Such colors! It's hard to choose a favorite. Maybe your little laughing otters "That was Fun." And your "Bright Bird"--can you tell me what kind of bird that is? And is that your Black Lab?

Thank you so, so much for those kind words about my gallery!!

The "Bright Bird" -- I'm not sure what he is, but he, as well as the tiger and sea lions, was a resident of the Bronx Zoo.

The otters are from a local farm-and-nature center.

And yes, indeed, that is my black lab, Bounder.

If you liked those, you're welcome to poke around my flickr site:

And here's my Star Trek only Flickr, under the name -- you guessed it -- preloc and kanar:
