So, Ulli had some fun over the weekend. biggrin.gif
I was there on saturday only.

You know, ever since I saw the Original Series on TV (that was in 1991) I wanted to meet "Mr. Spock". So it took me 18 years to do that although I had thought I never would. I'm still the personification of happyness. biggrin.gif
Even though there were lots of people (he had gone to 1000+ in the everning) Mr. Nimoy was very nice, looked up, smiled and said "thank you" to everyone. That was definitely good enough for me. I was also very impressed by him durig the photoshoot. I had expected him to be seated but he was standing all the time while masses of people had their photo taken. He kept saying "hello, how are you?" to everyone and was ever so nice. I half wished I had blinked during taking the photo so I had to stay there for a second try. wink.gif (And then I had to get the photo signed - I guess I was spending way to much money on that weekend but it was worth it.)
I met my Hero who I had from when I was 8 years old and I'm just so happy now.

I also met Avery Brooks who was in a cheery mood all day during the signing and the photosession. He took my hands in his to warm them up because it was so cold inside the stadium. (I liked the venue, in good weather that would have been perfect. Leonard Nimoy was wrapped in a blanket all time and a friend showed me a hilarious photo of her and John DeLancie who had wrapped himself in a table cloth because of the cold. lol.gif)

I also got my photo from Hamburg last year with Andy Robinson signed. He commented that he had worn the same jacket on friday and seemed to find that very funny. I asked for another photo and he was happy to do that. (Actually my friend who was with me took photos over my shoulder while he signed the pic. She has not yet got all the pics of her camera so I will post it later when I get it, together with a couple of other pictures.)

And can I just say how well organised this event was? It was my second showmasters event and even thought it was a signing event I actually spend more time which each guest than I had done ever on a "normal" con. Unfortunately the talks had to be canceled because of the weather since it was supposed to be happen in a part of the stadium that was not covered by a roof.

Oh, yeah, and I also met Portia from the board. biggrin.gif I think she has a photo with "Q" and one with Andy? Not sure about the last.

Ulli (broke and happy)

Oh, Ulli, you're so lucky!

I'm glad you had such a great experience. Thanks for telling us about it, and showing the photographs.

Great pics, Ulli! I've heard that Showmasters run a good event, although Nathan Fillion was on Twitter grousing about the cold after this particular one!

I'd like to use the photo of you and Avery Brooks in the newsletter. I don't have items about Brooks very often, and I'm glad when I have the chance. I really want to include your account of his taking your hands in his to warm them up. That is so sweet!

I'll be getting a photo of one of our members with Andy from this event, but I'd be happy to have more.

Okay, this one comes a little late, I was rather busy in the last couple of days and am still struggling with my Internet access.

Last week Saturday was my first trip to Collectormania in Milton Keynes and although the venue was a little unusual (open air stadium) I did have a great day. Driving to MK started off rather eventful, the Satnav broke down and we had no road map with us and of course we headed straight into a massive traffic jam. I had to get off the motorway and find my way on smaller roads. But we had such a great giggle! My friend and I are quite big fans of Alan Rickman and Harry Potter, suddenly we found ourselves driving through a town called "Rickmansworth" and passing this exit sign to a village called "Flitwick". tongue.gif We already felt extremely fangirly before even arriving at the event!

Luckily, we still managed to get there early and Ulli was at hand to point us to the right queue smile.gif I did buy three photo-ops for John De Lancie, Leonard Nimoy and Andy Robinson. John's shoot was the first one of the day. We were queuing for Q. LOL. I've never met John before. He was so tall and he looked ever so cool with his beard. "Good morning, how are you? Oh, excuse me.." He fished some gum out of his pocket, before striking pose with me. By the sounds of it, the content of his pockets equaled the one of a medium sized handbag! That shoot was the event of the day for me, John was so charming, he looked so good and he ran his hand over my back! biggrin.gif After that, we spent half of the day rhapsodizing John De Lancie. Fangirl Alert!

Next, we then went over to see Andy and I got my copy of "A Stitch In Time" signed. I was glad I took the book with me, Andy said that it's his favourite item to sign. I had to ask him a question if he ever at the exterior location of the first Hellraiser movie in Dollis Hill. I do pass this house occasionally and every time I have to grin thinking "Andy/Garak was in there". Silly, I know, but that's just me. I'll stop that now, because he was never there. tongue.gif We did go back to John for an autograph and then the long wait for the Leonard Nimoy photoshoot began. I had a red ticket and those were the last ones in line. They kept telling me to come back in 15 minutes at least 4 times. Finally, it was my turn. I was impressed that Leonard did manage to do so many photos that day. Ok, he had years of practice, but he's not as young anymore. He politely greeted everyone before posing and sometimes tiptoed for his taller fans. It was such a great experience meeting Leonard. The photo will make a nice present for my Mum, who is a big Spock fan.

I did my last photo-op with Andy, it was a rather quick one and I felt like a second try, too. sad.gif It took them ages to get the photos ready, that would have been a good time to fill the space with guest talk, but sadly they all had been canceled. We left the stadium to have some food at the Ikea next to it. Half of the restaurant was filled with people from the convention, it was so cool seeing all those people wearing fan stuff in a place like Ikea. The drive back was fun, too. My friend had bought herself a lifesize Severus Snape standee and that was giving an evil stare at all cars coming too close to mine..

Yes, it was cold there. They should have organized some electric heaters for their guests. It sometimes felt warmer on the parking lot outside of the stadium, than inside of it!

He was so tall and he looked ever so cool with his bread.

I'm going to guess that you meant "beard". I wouldn't mention it, but I'm shamelessly stealing your account for the newsletter (with appropriate credit to SidCity.net forums, of course.) It would be embarrassing if I said he was wearing a beard when, in fact, he had a loaf of bread attached to that tablecloth Ulli said he'd been wearing.

roll2.gif You're right!! That one slipped through, of course the auto word check didn't flag it up.. tongue.gif I was talking beard, not bread.. lol.gif biggrin.gif

Feel free to put it into the newsletter. Unfortunately, I left my camera at home, so I don't have any pictures of the event.
