Some of you might like to read this article about how the "Lost Boys" are faring in the United States, and political goings-on in both the U.S. and The Sudan that concern them.

I wonder how Sid feels about the idea of splitting The Sudan into two separate countries?

If I could, I would change the name of this topic to Sudan Tribune. There are so many links on this newspaper page. You can really find out a lot of stuff about the Sudan. And if you look at the crawl across the top of the page, the headlined articles are updated every day. It's kind of like SidCity having its own Sudan newspaper delivered daily.

'Trousers' trial of Sudanese journalist adjourned amid protests

"The journalist was received by a crowd of around a 100 women, many wearing trousers, including prominent figures such as Rabah Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi, daughter of former Sudanese prime minister, who waited outside the courtroom holding signs protesting the 'indecency' law provisions.

But Sudanese police fired tear gas and beat the protesters..."

Do you think Rabah Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi is Sid's cousin? I hope she wasn't hurt.

Reading this news item made we wonder if Sid has dual English/Sudanese citizenship is allowed to vote in Sudan's elections by some kind of absentee ballot. But even if he does, he wouldn't be allowed to vote in tomorrow's referendum, as only Southern Sudanese are voting in that, and I think Sid is from the North. Let's hope the referendum goes peacefully tomorrow and Sid's family stays safe.
