I know there has to be House fans around here. I've seen POTHOS over at the Hugh Laurie forum. I thought it was time to start a House/Hugh Laurie thread here. whistling.gif
POTHOS
I love the programme House, strangely enough there are so many coincerdences between Sid and Hugh Laurie that it is scary.

Out of curiosity can you name the show that connects them both.

How cool would it be for Sid to be a patient, of the cranky Dr House in an episode.

Merry Christmas.

HOUSE is great. It is unique. Hugh Laurie is great. I didn't know he was British. My mom told me she heard him talk.

Ya know, back when I'd watch Deep Space Nine, I thought it would be really awesome if the two opposite doctors got to know eachother...LOL

I can just see Dr. House taking care of those quickened patients, now....LOL
Mel
House is going to start airing on USA on Friday nights after Monk! I've been wanting to watch it for ages, but Tuesdays just don't work for me.

I can't think of it....though today has been full of blonde moments for me. I've either been doing this bash.gif or this doh.gif.
Something tells me when you post how they are linked together, I'll be doing this: doh.gif

Other UK members might like to know that the 2nd season of House starts on Channel 5 on 19th January at 10pm. Unfortunatly this means it clashes with the last half an hour of the new Patrick Stewart drama, Eleventh Hour. Oh! which to watch and which to record?
POTHOS
Did you get the message about the link Leigha? Would you have guessed the answer?

Best Wishes

Ah... Hugh Laurie. When he speaks with his British Accent his voice goes all deep and chocolatey. I love his very earnest eyes.

As for the Show that links them, I think I know...
Leigha
Yes, POTHOS, I got your message. I wouldn't have remembered that on my own. Thanks for telling me though...I'll let you do the honors of posting the link between Sid and Hugh. 2thumbs.gif
POTHOS
They have both appeared in the BBC series "Spooks/M.I.5"

I love Hugh Laurie as House. I would really enjoy seeing Mr. Siddig staring as a patient. Maybe as a pathological liar!

Sid: So, you're a doctor.

House:...Yeah. Did my stethoscope give it away?

Sid: I was once a doctor. On a spaceship.

Then again, I was always a little dorky in that...

It's remarkable the resemblance between Hugh Laurie and Alexander Siddig. I remember watching "Jeeves and Wooster" years ago on PBS and thinking how adorable Hugh Laurie was. I haven't watched "House" because it's a medical show and I don't watch medical shows. But I see the commercials for "House," and Hugh Laurie always reminds me of Sid. I didn't realize until now that the resemblance extends to personality. In the Sept. 24 issue of TV GUIDE there is a silly entertaining interview with Hugh Laurie. It made me smile--not something I've been able to do recently. Hugh comes across as so "Siddish" in the interview. If I didn't know who it was I could easily think it was Sid giving those flip and clever answers. It sounds just like him. I wonder if Sid and Hugh Laurie ever get mistaken for each other the way Sid and James Callis do? I wouldn't be surprised if they are.

It would surprise me. I don't see any resemblance at all. hmmm.gif unknw.gif

January 19th-That's my birthday!

I've watched the show and he's got a weird, quirky sense of humor! It makes the show even more fun to watch. w00t.gif

I see a strong resemblance, too. They have a very similar face shape and body type. They also both have rather striking eyes. heart.gif

I doubt they'd get mistaken for each other, though, given their markedly different colouring.

Thank you for backing me up, Mark Stanley. give_rose.gif

Note to POTHOS: In an above post you stated that "there are so many coincidences between Sid and Hugh Laurie that it is scary." May I ask what you meant by that?

Peridot
POTHOS
I think at the time I was being ironic when I mentioned the term "scary". However they are both public school educated men and have both found success on US tv.

Interesting to note that they both appeared in "Spooks" Laurie season 1 Siddig season 2. The BBC as far as I am aware have never repeated either of these seasons due to various controversies

Hope this helps

Jude

If anyone reads the Hugh Laurie interview in TV GUIDE, I'd like to know how you think he compares to Sid.

Mel
Funny you should mention that, Peridot. I read the interview over the weekend and couldn't help thinking that he and Sid would be a riot interviewed together. The same dry wit, the same self-deprecation.

So, did anyone watch the season premiere last night? House handling a case without a team was interesting to watch. And I loved, loved, loved the kidnapped guitar B story. Yes, Wilson, you are bold.
TaBet
House M.D. is just spendid - the only TV series in the last year I tried to see regularly and video-taped if I wasn't at home.
Well, and will be again, when they start to broadcast the 4th season here in Germany in autumn.

I'd really like to see Sid in one of the shows, maybe not as a patient but an other expert to be consulted by some patient House is dealing with without success. Would be fun if the script gives them a lot of confrontation with the same humor/sarcasm on both sides?

And yes, even if I can't put the finger exactly on why, I see they bear some resemblance to each other.

How about if he plays a rival of House expecting an award that House wanted but suddenly collapses just before it's handed to him and House has to figure out what's wrong with him

Loved early episodes of House. Hugh Laurie pretending to be an American doctor who was faking a British accent... don't know why but that was funny as.

...Although to be honest I like the earlier stuff he did in England (like Fry&Laurie, Blackadder, Peter's Friends...) better.
