Thanks for providing a bin for the loonies to crash around in. Someone pass me a jaffa cake. Anyone care for a spot of tea? kj

The Syriana trailer is available to view at Yahoo! Movies and features a lot of Sid. Yay!

Happy Vi!
Whew! That was awesome--Great job Sid!

The trailer is very exciting and I'm pleased with the number of shots of Sid in it, but I'll confess it had me scratching my head trying to find ANYTHING resembling the book See No Evil.

BTW, Syriana's sister film -- North Country -- is premiering this weekend. What makes these two films siblings is that they both share some financing from a philanthropist who considered both subjects worthy of being made. It is easier for mindless films to get financing sometimes than important but controversial topics.

I looked for this trailor as soon as I got up last Wed. morning because I knew that Yahoo was going to have it up. This movie looks like it's going to be really good. It's not really my kind of movie (I go for the 'mindless films' TOC mentions in her post), but it does look like a great story. I'm glad Sid was a part of it. And, by the way, he looks fabulous in a suit! IPB Image

Stephen Gaghan, the screenwriter/director, said in a recent interview that while Clooney's character shares the same name and occupation as the author of "See No Evil", that's where the similarities end. Some of us have suspected this for some time; it's nice that Gaghan finally confirmed that.

rolleyes.gif I should have said escapist films as opposed to mindless. I enjoy escapist films myself.

Well, I'm hoping that the film will also share some of the outrage with the way politics and business interests mess with the CIA and intelligence gathering or what's the point?

Wow the trailer is great!!!!

I am going to go to the cinema with my best friend when the film is shown immediately. I show hin the trailer and he said he would like to see the film, too. He usually don´t like such films and he even doesn´t know Sid but he said as he has seen the trailer he want to go with me in this film. laugh.gif

I watched the trailer with Mel back when it hit the net. I told her that day that the blasted thing gave me Goosebumps! Definitely my kind of movie (if I hava a kind). Love the ones that get the heart pumping AND have a good story with quality acting. This one fits the bill on all accounts!

ETA Was playing around with some new software tonight and made some half-way decent caps. Is it ok to post them?

Count me as an escapist lover too. Gotta admit, I'm a wimp when it comes to violence (I'm sure my eyes will be closed during some scenes), politics used to=snooze, Clooney and Damon are neutral to me (seem like nice guys but I don't run out to see their films). So Sid is *the* reason I am going to see this.

It looks like this will help me expand my intellectual horizons. In fact, Sid has piqued my interest in the crusades, East-West cultural issues and overall politics in general. For me, that's a biggie.

But I was excited to see this trailer on tv (ok I admit, I squeed). And I'm excited to hear about all the positive reviews. Esp about Sid himself. Bit of a confirmation of what we already knew (most of y'all longer than me-I came onto Sid late, just caught DS9 a couple of yrs ago, but I'm trying to catch up!). All this is recognition well deserved I think.

It's a good time to be a Sid fan.
