I was stranded in Sydney airport yesterday trying to escape home to Melbourne, when I did something I never usually do: spent nearly a week's mortgage payment on the air delivered, latest issue of Vanity Fair (we usually get our international glossies a month or five past the fact). I started on my three thousandth cup of tea for the afternoon and was kept entertained by VF's excellent standard of journalism until I fell onto my doorstep a few hours later.

I must say though that flicking to page 133 at altitude and after a glass or two of wine was rather a bonus...

Thank you so much for this Kimberley.

Is this the US or UK version of the magazine?

Best Wishes

Jude

The pic is wonderful by the way, anyone know when and where it was taken?
Kimberly
The promo piece "In Support of UK Film" is part of a photo essay sponsored by the fashion & accessory house Alfred Dunhill, so it's almost like a fashion shoot of sorts, tied in with 50th anniversary of the The Times bfi London Film Festival which takes place in October. Other actors featured (who, like Sid, all wear Dunhill pieces) are Matthew Goode, Rupert Friend, Joe Wright, David Tennant, Ashley Walters, Shaun Evans and Danny Dyer.

How interesting! I didn't know that Siddig felt his career was so affected by the 9/11 incident.
I wonder if he ever feels type-casted these days. On the other hand, "Arab," isn't an especially limiting category to by forced into...

Thanks for the article/beautiful photo! smile.gif

He seriously has 4 acres and a tractor?
That's sweet.

He said his GARDEN was 4 acres. That's a huge garden (assuming an English acre is the same as an American one.) For comparison, the farm where I grew up was 410 acres. When I first read the photo caption, I was thinking their whole homestead was 4 acres and that's not a lot. When I re-read it and realized that was the size of just the garden, I had to re-think it.

But in England, "garden" means "backyard" so he could simply be referring to his yard.

Or else he grows a lot of tomatoes.
POTHOS
I am a little confused what the American backyard is. In the UK a garden can be many things but if it is the size that Sid implies it sounds it could be split into produce growing and a flower garden and large lawned area for play and relaxation.

Got to admit it sounds both idyllic and a lot of hard work.

Well Sid is quite welcome to glom my bandwidth (and I'm picky) but thanks for doing that Mel.

I might be jumping on the bandwagon on this, but I think Sid looks really nice in that picture. I think it looks very laid back and gentlemanly. {Is that a word?}
I'm sure we will be seeing a lot of that picture in the future.

Well, for me, it depends on where the house is. My backyard is not much, but a nice good size front yard, and a side yard, but my backyard drops down into woods. It sounds like Sid's is very nice and beautiful.

That is a really, really nice picture. Hmm, the muse is humming.

Sid looks great, as always!
