‘Joseph of Egypt’ First Look

By  |

Filming for Joseph of Egypt has wrapped! Now that the cast and crew have departed New Mexico, we’re getting our first look at the upcoming limited series. The Chosen creator Dallas Jenkins hosted a livestream featuring behind-the-scenes content – including interviews with stars Adam Hashmi (Joseph) and Alexander Siddig (Jacob). Watch as the guy interviewing Sid nerds out about meeting Dr. Bashir!

In the video, we get a good look at Sid in costume and makeup, presumably as older Jacob. We see Adam dressed in Egyptian clothing and wearing an Egyptian hairstyle here, so they’ve likely been filming a scene set after Jacob and Joseph are reunited.

Keep in mind that the lighting for this behind-the-scenes video is not the same as the lighting we’ll see in the series. I say that because the wigs and makeup look a little sketchy here. If you’ve watched any of The Chosen, then you know the production values are much better in the series!

Bonus: This was the last day Sid and Adam worked together, so we see their farewell moment caught on camera.

The video below starts at the 13:01 mark, with Jenkins introducing the Joseph of Egypt segment.

Joseph of Egypt is the first spin-off series in The Chosen universe. An exact premiere date has not yet been announced, but later in the livestream, Jenkins said it will probably debut in 2027.

Hat tip to Peter Chattaway on Substack for his coverage!

Mel started a fan site for Siddig in 1996, as a way to learn HTML and to promote his charitable endeavors. In 1998, he proposed that it become his official fan site; she quickly agreed and a long-distance friendship was born. You can reach Mel at mel[at]sidcity[dot]net.
