SHANTARAM Season 1 is coming in October!

Apple TV+ announced that the first three episodes (out of 10 episodes in season 1) of Shantaram will premiere on the streaming service on Friday, October 14, 2022.

Based on the novel* by Gregory David Roberts, Shantaram stars Charlie Hunnam as Lin Ford (above), a heroin addict who escaped from prison in Australia and made his way to India. There he becomes involved in the criminal underworld and the lives of his neighbors.

Siddig fans will recall that he spent about 8 months filming the series on location in Australia and Thailand last year. He plays Khader Khan, the revered kingpin of Bombay’s underworld who acts as a surrogate father to Lin.

Official Synopsis

“Alone in an unfamiliar city, Lin struggles to avoid the trouble he’s running from. After falling for an enigmatic and intriguing woman named Karla, Lin must choose between freedom or love and the complications that come with it.”

In addition to Hunnam, Shantaram co-stars Shubham Saraf, Elektra Kilbey, Fayssal Bazzi, Luke Pasqualino, Antonia Desplat, Alyy Khan, Sujaya Dasgupta, Vincent Perez, David Field, Alexander Siddig, Gabrielle Scharnitzky, Elham Ehsas, Rachel Kamath, Matthew Joseph and Shiv Palekar.

Shantaram is written and executive-produced by Steve Lightfoot, who also serves as showrunner. Bharat Nalluri directs and executive-produces.

Released in 2004, the novel* has been published in 39 languages in 42 territories worldwide and sold more than 6 million copies.
